Bow Sights
One of the most important parts of shooting at something is to be able to see it clearly which is why bow sights are an important accessory to add to the compound bow. A compound bow is a powerful weapon that is equipped with enough power to unleash arrows at frightening speeds. It may have all of the accuracy in the world but that would stand for nothing if you were unable to clearly see the deer, elk or turkey.

A bow sight is mounted on the bow riser giving you a clear view of what you are aiming your arrow at. It is essentially the same type of thing as the gun sights. Some types of bow sights are firly rudimentary devices made up of adjustable pins set in a plastic mounting. The pins may be moved around so that the elevation adjustments may be made.
As with most things to do with the compound bow, bow sights also come in much more sophisticated models that may be made of mre durable materials such as machined aluminum that offer multiple adjustable pins giving you a whole slew of functions that promise you th utmost in hunting accuracy. The type of compound bow sights you buy is up to you and your budget.
The type of archery sight you decide to use may come down to a preference for a particular brand rather than for any other specific reason. Many manufacturers make 3-pin archery sights or 5-pin sights and there is very little difference between a sight made by one company and one made by another. The use of special visibility options in the peep sight or around the sighting ring may provide you with the edge that you are looking for. For others the difference may come down to price and this is where it will pay to do your homework.
Although the range of bow sights is quite large, when it comes down to it you will get a highly suitable and functional hunting bow sight for anywhere between $30 and $60.
Types of Archery Sights
Fixed Pin Sights: This is the most common type of sight and it consists of either 3 or 5 pins. The pins are set to the desired level so that the top pin indicates the closest distance and the lowest pin indicates the furthest distance. The simplest way to use this sight is to have the pins set for a pre-determined distance which will then allow you to shoot confidently and accurately once you have estimated the distance from the target.
Moveable Pin Sights: This is different to the fixed pin sight in that rather than having multiple pins there is usually just a single pin that you can move before each shot. It is easily adjusted to any distance you require with a minimum of fuss.
Pendulum Bow Sights: This is a sight that compensates for elevation on downhill shots. It is generally known as a treestand sight and can help those hunters who have to judge distance from an elevated position which is not an easy task.
3D Competition Bow Sights: These are target bow sights and looks different to other types of bow sights because they are designed to be used in competition. They are more complex than other types of bows and more expensive than the others but they are possibly the most accurate types of bow sights you can buy.
