The Parker Velocity compound bow has been released for the 2012 season as a high performance hunting bow that has been priced at the affordable price range. The bow is powered by a single cam system that has been designated the Velocity High Performance Cam. It provides for adjustability that will take the draw length through the range of 26” to 31”.

The lightweight nature of the Velocity makes it a good prospect to take into the field. This light weight is backed up by the shorter axle to axle length that measures only 30.125” and with a generous brace height of 7.25 it becomes a bow that is quick and easy to manoeuvre and gives the shooter the greatest possible chance of taking an accurate shot.

As well as being released as a bare bow the Velocity was also made available by Parker Bows as part of an Outfitter Package. The bow was designed with a choice of three different set ups to give the competition shooter the chance to choose the options that will best suit their style.

The Vantage Pro is available with a choice of 3 different cam systems, the cam and ½ plus, GTX cam and ½ or the Spiral X Cam & ½. The Winchester Vaquero compound bow has been designed to provide the bow hunter with the ultimate in reliability thanks to the forged aluminum and stainless steel components that have been bulit into it. The bow features the Advanced Rotating Cam (ARC) system that contains a built in rotating module to allow simple draw length adjustment. The Mission Riot compound bow has been introduced for the 2012 season and it provides the new or inexperienced shooter with a strongly performing hunting bow. This is quite similar to the popular Craze apart from the fact that it is longer at 31” axle to axle compared to the 28” of the Craze and is also slightly faster with an IBO rating of 310 fps.

This is a bow that is extremely versatile with a wide range of adjustability with a draw weight starting as low as 15lbs and reaching 70lbs. The draw length range is similarly wide going from 19” to 30” making it the type of bow that suits the younger shooter who is likely to be going through a growth spurt.

One of the most impressive features of the Riot and, for that matter, the entire Mission range is the price and the retail price suggested by the manufacturer is a low $399. This means the outlay is not going to be prohibitive. When you consider the power and features that are built into this bow it is difficult to go past it as an entry level bow.

One observation I have made though is that most bows I've seen need a stabiliser to make them front-weighted. The Riot is fairly front-heavy on it's own without a stabiliser. It's fairly quiet, and is a fairly average weight. The grip is made of fairly dense rubber with a slightly annoying seam down the middle (where your palm rests - my only gripe with this bow).

We went back to the proshop last week and she shot the Riot and really liked it. I let it be her choice and she choice the Riot. She upgraded the arrow rest, sight and peep. Now...I'm jealous my daughter has a better bow than me!

The bow features the ARC Cam system which accounts for the smoothness of the draw. It also features sealed bearings to keep it as vibration free as possible and the parallel limb technology assists with both the accuracy and the quietness of the bow.

You can expect a very reliable hunting bow when you use the Parker Interceptor XP and although the speeds of bows released in more recent times easily outstrip it, this is still a bow with tremendous stopping power.
