G5 Prime Centroid Compound Bow

The G5 Prime Centroid is a powerful compound bow that has been given an overhaul by G5 Outdoors in 2012 and to use a forged 7000 series aluminum riser. This is a lighter, stronger riser than the 6061 T6 aluminum that is used by most other companies. The Centroid has been built 15% stiffer and .20 pounds lighter than the previous year’s model.

The bow is powered by a new cam system that the company has called its Parallel Cam technology and it has been designed to eliminate cam lean and improve the accuracy of the bow. The problem of cam lean is also combated by the Ti-Glide cable guard. Accuracy is also improved through the C2 cross weft design which means the torsional stress will be reduced.

As well as the features that have been built into the bow to assist with its accuracy it has a few other nice features that will ensure it will be a solid performer for any serious bow hunter. The brace height is a very forgiving 7.25” and has been rated with an IBO speed of 332 fps.

The Prime series of compound bows from G5 represent the premium line in their range and is currently made up of the Centroid that is discussed on this page as well as the Shift.

What they're saying in the forums about the G5 Prime Centroid

Centroid:
Good - Smooth draw, nice transition into the valley, holds great.
Bad - resonating vibe after shot(shot w/out stab.) $1000.
I plan on buying the Centroid as my next bow. Ive been shooting a lot of bows since I purchased my Primal(which I love), and its the only one that gave me that "Ive got to own this" feeling.

The bow is awesome. The draw is very smooth and has very little if any hump into the valley. The back wall is as hard and holds very nice with no creep. On the shot the bow doesn't kick forward or back and has no hand buzz. I was shooting 2" groups with no sight or peep from 15yrds with the crappy plastic flipper for the demo bows. One of the things that I've always like about the G5 bows are their grips. They just fit my hand very well. Didn't run the bow thru a chrono but it looked to have very good speed. I was shooting a 29" at 60# which is about 2" short for me but was very comfortable. Hard to tell how much noise it makes I was in a closed lane with a few people around but didn't notice it to be loud at all.
