Mathews Icon Compound Bow

The Mathews Icon compound bow was available as a new bow from Mathews Archery from 2002 to 2004. The bow featured a new cam system the company called the Concentric SoloCam and is renowned for being a smooth shooting bow that was also very accurate thanks to the generous brace height.

The Concentric SoloCam that was designed specifically for the Icon and is a round, perimeter weighted cam that mirrors the round wheel on the opposite limb. It's the symmetry in shape and measurement that provides systematic consistency and aids with achieving a high level of accuracy.

The bow has a smooth draw cycle and is extremely quiet providing you with a bow that is very comfortable to shoot accurately with. Those who picked up their Icon in 2003 – 2004 have remarked that they have seen no reason to move on to another bow. There is even more incentive to buy one of the used Icon compound bows that occasionally come up for sale because the price is so much cheaper today.

The frame of the bow is longer than some of the other bows that were available at around the same period so it is more suitable for use outside of the treestand. When you make a comparison of the speed of the bow compared to today’s bows it is much slower but still packs a lot of stopping power.

If your looking for a forgiving , smooth drawing , extremely quiet , and surprisingly quick bow then look no further than the Icon. I use to get a different bow every year , before I got my Icon , now I dont see the sense in it because I know it wont get any better.

It is longer ata, slower, and heavier (4.5 pounds) than most new bows, but very forgiving and zero handshock. Also one of the smoothest drawcycles I have pulled (the cam is same size as the idler).
