The Difference Between the Supreme and Challenger Sights
The Sure-Loc bow target sights are acknowledged as among the most precise, lightweight and durable in the industry and have been used in competitions for years. The two most well-known models in the Sure-Loc range are the Challenger and the Supreme bow sights. Although they look largely the same, there are some important differences between the Challenger and the Supreme and we have explained them below.
The Supreme has a patented no-lock design that is built to remain on the same vertical and horizontal plane through every shot. The Challenger has been designed with a lock on the elevation that may be engaged by depressing the locking knob.
When making an elevation adjustment with the Supreme you can turn the top or bottom know to make micro adjustments. If you want to make larger changes you can press the brass button which will disengage from the internal thread and allow you to slide the indicator smoothly up or down. Elevation adjustments with the Challenger is not quite as smooth and requires the side knob to be unlocked and then given around 1/8 to ¼ of a turn before turning the top or bottom elevation knob for fine adjustments. Larger adjustments also require the side knob to be unlocked but then it needs to be turned more than 2 full turns to disengage. While your thumb is on the end of the locking knob depress it and slide the elevation to the desired position.
The next difference between the two model types lies in the weight of each type. The Supreme has been constructed with a different design in the bracket that consists of a series of triangular cut outs to provide strength while allowing the weight to be minimized. The result is a saving or around an ounce for the 400 model and a similar saving with the 550.
The final and most obvious difference between the two models comes down to the price. The manufacturer’s recommended price for the Challenger sights is $270.00 while the price for the Supreme sights is $370.00.
Both sights are quality products and will provide the shooter with a high degree of accuracy but the Supreme will provide the shooter with a slightly more user-friendly product over its stablemate.
